About Us
Carmichael and Baxter Groundworks is a premier civil engineering contractor. We have built our reputation on quality, efficiency, and safety. We are looking for a Working Foreman or Non-Working Foreman (depending on site size) to lead our squads and deliver projects to the highest specifications.
The Role
As Site Foreman, you will be the main point of contact on-site, bridging the gap between our Project Managers and the ground squads. You will be responsible for driving the program forward while maintaining strict safety standards.
Key Duties
- Site Leadership: Managing groundworkers and plant operators, ensuring productivity and morale remain high.
- Technical Supervision: Reading and interpreting engineering drawings (drainage layouts, foundations, levels).
- Setting Out: Establishing levels and lines for drainage, kerbing, and concrete pours using laser levels/boning rods.
- Health & Safety: Conducting morning briefings, toolbox talks, and ensuring all RAMS are adhered to.
- Resource Management: Ordering materials (concrete, aggregates, pipework) and arranging plant hire in coordination with the office.
- Quality Control: Ensuring all work meets the client's specifications and inspection standards.
What We Need From You
We are looking for someone with a “hands-on” background who understands groundworks from the bottom up but has the authority to manage a site.
Essential Requirements
- SSSTS (Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme) or SMSTS.
- Valid CSCS Gold (Supervisor) or Black (Manager) card.
- First Aid at Work (3 Day).
- Strong experience in residential and commercial groundworks (roads, sewers, foundations).
- Ability to read drawings and set out accurately.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Requirements
- Streetworks (NRSWA) Supervisor ticket.
- Experience with laser levels or basic EDM/Total Station.
- Cat & Genny training.
