Salaried GP

Carmel Medical Practice are currently recruiting for a Salaried General Medical Practitioner to help deliver our vision of high-quality medical services at our well-established, progressive, friendly practice team in Darlington. We are looking for 4-6 sessions, to work over Monday, Tuesday and Friday.

We offer a flexible approach to division of roles and responsibilities within our small friendly and experienced practice team. The clinical teams are also well supported by an excellent administration and management team; this allows our GPs to concentrate on clinical work.

Main duties of the job:

• Provide a range of medical services as defined in the core contract, additional and enhanced services where appropriate.
• Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.
• Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
• Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
• Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice; disease management protocols, provide counselling and health education.
• Work within local policy for prescribing.
• Be available and accessible to patients.
• Maximise effective use of current clinical computer systems. Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
• Compile and issue computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
• Support the development of the practice in training GPs and nursing students.
• Provide Free certification in line with Schedule 9 of the GMS regulations (1992).
• Provide emergency cover if needed.

• Carmel Medical Practice has 11,800 patient practice in a modern purpose built building.
• Team comprising 4 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, a Nurse Practitioner, along with an experienced and diverse allied healthcare team. The Practice is also a GP Training Practice.
• In-House Pharmacist team comprising of Clinical Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician.
• Respiratory and Diabetes specialist nurses.
• Fantastic support in place both clinical and administrative.
• Uses System One clinical system.
• GMS contract.

Job responsibilities:

• Be involved in developing primary care services to meet the needs of the practice population.
• Working in close collaboration with the practice team to ensure that access targets are reached.
• Work with the practice team to ensure that immunisation and health inequalities targets as defined within the core contract are reached.
• Support health development and ensure health promotion work is undertaken to allow the practice population to make informed choices.

Managerial:

• Awareness of, and compliance with, all relevant organisation policies and procedures, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety and infection control. Apply these to all aspects of one's own work.
• Committed to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based practice.
• Contribute to evaluated audit and clinical standards setting within the organisation.
• Contribute to the development of computer-based records.
• Contribute read-coding patient data.

Person Specification:

• Full GMC registration, inclusion on the NHS England Performers List, and eligibility to work in the UK.
• Working in UK General Practice Environment.
• Experience of Primary care.
• Registered with the GMC listed on the GMC GP Register with evidence of revalidation.
• Accepted Medical Degree.
• Interest in long term condition care.
• Willing to train or supervise students and progressing clinical staff.

Depending on experience: 4 to 6 sessions, pay rate to be discussed based on experience.
