Come and join our team. The Governors of Penboyr School are seeking to appoint a Clerical Assistant to work 12 hours per week, starting from January 2026. This is a great opportunity to join a friendly community school in a busy and varied administrative role. The successful candidate will be based in the school office and will play a key role in ensuring that frontline services run smoothly on a day-to-day basis, as well as supporting the wider school administratively.
The role includes being the first point of contact for pupils, staff, parents and visitors, and a professional, calm and empathetic approach is required at all times. Responsibilities will vary from day to day but will mainly focus on reception duties and related clerical tasks. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and respond flexibly to the school's needs. It will be possible to divide the hours over two days a week (Preferably Tuesday and Friday). This post will be temporary to cover maternity leave until October 2026.
DBS level: An Enhanced with Barred List Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be requested for this job. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or adults at risk.
Welsh language level - verbal Level 5 - You will need to be able to communicate fluently in Welsh. Reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
