About the role

If you are passionate about cooking and have a good work ethic, we would love to hear from you because our self‑motivated and dedicated team requires a Catering Assistant. We have the following vacancies in Maes Y Gwendraeth kitchen:

  • Catering Assistant: 12 hours 30 minutes per week / 2 hours 30 minutes per day.
  • Catering Assistant: 13 hours 45 minutes per week / 2 hours 45 minutes per day.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for assisting our Cook in preparing nutritious and appetising meals whilst ensuring compliance with all aspects of Food Hygiene and Health and Safety. Other duties will include the setting up and clearing away of tables and general cleaning duties. Working hours are Monday to Friday, term time only (38 weeks), ideal to fit around family commitments and other roles we offer.

Schedule

This role offers two schedules: 12 hours 30 minutes per week / 2 hours 30 minutes per day, or 13 hours 45 minutes per week / 2 hours 45 minutes per day.

Requirements

  • The ability to build good relationships with adults and children based on mutual respect.
  • Knowledge of basic food safety. This would be an advantage, but not essential as full training will be given.
  • Good communication and people skills.
  • The ability to work on their own and as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude and the willingness to learn new skills.
  • Flexibility and the willingness to assist with other catering duties.

An Enhanced with Barred List Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be requested for this job. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or adults at risk. Welsh language level - verbal Level 2. You will need a basic level of conversational Welsh. Reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
