There is no inherited book to manage at the outset, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to build something of their own and continue managing those relationships as the portfolio grows. Previous commercial insurance experience is essential.

The Role

The Commercial Insurance Business Development Executive will be responsible for identifying, developing and converting new commercial insurance opportunities. Responsibilities will include:

  • Generating new commercial insurance leads through networking, referrals, prospecting and existing market relationships
  • Building and managing a pipeline of prospective SME and commercial clients
  • Developing relationships with business owners and senior decision-makers
  • Understanding client businesses, risk exposures and insurance requirements
  • Working closely with broking and account handling teams to secure appropriate quotations and coverage
  • Presenting insurance solutions clearly and professionally to prospective clients
  • Converting new business opportunities and developing long-term client relationships
  • Building and retaining your own commercial insurance portfolio
  • Maintaining accurate records of prospecting, pipeline activity and client discussions
  • Working toward an annual new business income target
  • Developing strong relationships with insurers and internal broking teams
  • Representing the business at networking events and within the wider commercial community

The new business target will be introduced gradually, giving the successful candidate time to settle into the role, establish a pipeline and develop their portfolio.

About You

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a developing sales pipeline
  • A professional and consultative approach to business development

This role could suit an existing Commercial Account Executive, Development Executive, New Business Executive or experienced Commercial Account Handler who has a proven ability to generate opportunities and is ready to move into a more focused business development role.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established brokerage while building a portfolio that you can continue to manage and develop over the longer term. The company can offer:
