About the role
Lead the engineering strategy for production, driving safety, efficiency, and performance across mechanical, electrical, controls, and utilities functions. As pillar lead for Preventive Maintenance, you’ll champion Carlsberg Excellence and Lean TPM to build best-in-class systems, teams, and processes. With full accountability for statutory compliance, facilities contracts, and continuous improvement, this role is central to delivering operational excellence and sustainable cost leadership in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Define and deliver the site-wide maintenance strategy across people, plant, and engineering disciplines.
- Set and manage the site maintenance OPEX budget, ensuring cost efficiency and operational reliability.
- Oversee spare parts inventory and third-party maintenance service providers to meet performance and compliance standards.
- Cascade departmental KPIs and ensure alignment with group performance management systems (PMS and MCRS).
- Ensure full compliance with HSE, food safety, hygiene, legal, and HR processes across the department.
- Champion structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., Lean, TPM) to resolve daily and chronic issues.
- Lead the development of engineering managers and teams, building skills and competencies aligned with departmental vision.
- Contribute to overall site strategy as part of the senior management team, driving operational excellence.
- Support group maintenance and utilities initiatives, sharing best practices across the site and wider business.
- Act as a crisis coordinator and lead emergency response planning as part of the site’s disaster contingency team.
Experience and Key Attributes
- Proven track record in developing maintenance strategies and managing performance across people, cost, quality, and service.
- Extensive experience leading engineering maintenance within a fast-paced FMCG or production environment.
- Deep understanding of health, safety, and engineering compliance regulations, with NEBOSH certification as a minimum.
- Demonstrated leadership in Lean TPM deployment, including Preventive and Autonomous Maintenance pillars.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical ability, and a results-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Skilled in cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and empowering high-performing teams.
- Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in engineering, ideally with chartered status and professional membership.
- Experienced in managing change, budgets, and delivering measurable outcomes in a production setting.
- Proficient in SAP, MES, and MRO systems, with sound knowledge of QHSE standards and employment practices.
- Fluent in English with excellent communication, coaching, and facilitation skills.
