The predicted salary is between 35000 - 45000 £ per year.

As a Shift Engineer you will be responsible for delivering world class engineering technical excellence in fault resolution and maintenance standards which promotes the delivery of site scorecard measures. Continuous Improvement and best practice delivery of mechanical and electrical standards will be key, as will maintenance of manufacturing equipment, building infrastructure, building services and utilities provision using co-ordinated corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance techniques. Through this you will minimise Equipment Failure Downtime and catastrophic failure impact to site manufacturing capability.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in delivering Engineering department vision and strategic plan and to develop and deploy a strategy for energy, equipment and maintenance which supports the progression and development of the site in line with the Britvic Work System (BWS).
  • Develop World Class engineering solutions with the team, driving a culture of strong performance, striving to achieve full personal potential and achieve business objectives.
  • Work in partnership with the Operation core teams, to improve key business results and to develop engineering skills and knowledge by promoting a professional manufacturing team culture.
  • Develop, implement and deliver a robust strategy for mechanical, electrical, building services and utilities provision and control of engineering budgets to deliver the most cost effective results.
  • Identify and action opportunities for improvements within the engineering environment to promote a continuous improvement culture within the engineering and operational teams.
  • Pro-active resolution of site engineering services to meet factory requirements and drive improvements to all energy/environmental delivery measures.
  • Provide and monitor factory wide support systems for the adherence to company policies and statutory regulations for health, safety and environment, for Carlsberg Britvic staff and contractor management.
  • Work in partnership with the Central Engineering Department to plan and support all capital engineering projects to ensure successful completion within cost, quality and time targets.
  • Proven experience in an engineering, technical or maintenance role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background working in a KPI-driven production environment, ideally within FMCG, food, beverage or other high-volume manufacturing industries.
  • Experience carrying out planned and preventative maintenance activities, with an understanding of HACCP requirements and audit processes.
  • Good knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and safe working practices.
  • Experience using permit-to-work systems, risk assessments, isolation and lock-off procedures, and managing contractor activities.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining production equipment and supporting operational performance.
  • Ability to fault-find and maintain PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and equipment reliability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A multi-skilled engineering background with an electrical bias is preferred.
  • Experience within a food, beverage, liquid processing or FMCG manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (Apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent) are desirable.

  • Working Hours: 4 on 4 off rotating days and night shifts (6 am - 6 pm, 6 pm - 6 am)
