Overview Event Steward – Cheltenham Racecourse
We are seeking Birmingham based staff willing to work in Cheltenham for the upcoming events. The Venue Cheltenham Racecourse is a venue like no other, the home of Jump Racing. Join us for the 2025 / 2026 Season with events including The November Meet and The Cheltenham Festival, and season dates listed below. There will be access to some Conference and events shifts throughout the year and opportunities to support other contracts from time to time.
The role: You will be working as an Event Steward for this prestigious venue, representing Carlisle Support Services as the chosen supplier of event stewards and security for Cheltenham Racecourse. We are looking for people with good communication skills to help us provide a professional, efficient and safe service to our client at the racecourse throughout the season. This will be a fun and lively experience with around 1 million patrons attending throughout the season needing your help.
Responsibilities Being polite and professional to members of the public and the client
Retaining and using information relating to safety and for evacuation purposes
Providing world class customer service to ensure visitors have a positive and memorable experience
Retaining and using information relating to key areas on site (medical room, toilets, bars, etc.)
Ensuring the safety of spectators by being observant and reporting incidents (venue capacities, intoxication, site breaches, medical incidents)
Delivering the brief given by the supervisor (access control, wayfinding, ticket resolution)
Requirements / Qualifications Previous experience is not essential as training is provided to our standards
Approachable with a focus on excellent customer service
Willingness to learn new skills and procedures
Able to take direction and follow instructions
Able to communicate effectively, both spoken and written English
Smart, presentable and punctual
Commitment to work at least 50% of the season dates
Successful candidates will need to attend a pre-start induction and provide original documentation for screening and vetting (passport, driving licence, utility bill dated within last 3 months, HMRC letter, original bank statement, original payslip, birth certificate or valid share code).
