Our Client
The Royal Hospital Chelsea is an Old Soldiers' retirement home and nursing home for some 300 veterans of the British Army. Founded as an almshouse by King Charles II, it is a 66-acre site located on Royal Hospital Road in Chelsea, London.
We are looking for professional Security Officers to work on an ad hoc basis for events in this vibrant environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding and awareness of site security operations, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping others.
Purpose of the Role
This role is to work as part of the security events team covering various events held at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. The main priorities of the role are access control, booking in guests, customer service, general inquiries, crowd control, dealing with first aid incidents, and supporting the event manager with daily operational tasks. Types of events can be from small conferences/meetings, weddings, charity events, sporting events, corporate lunches and dinners, concerts, and festivals. Security Officers must be customer service-focused, polite, and professional at all times. The role involves standing and is external in all weather conditions, and you will report to the event manager. Some event officers will also be allowed to be trained on the core team to support with additional shifts on the main site. These will be 12-hour shifts, days and nights, which could potentially progress to a full-time position when available.

- Previous experience in a relevant role.

- Understanding of the principles of equality and diversity in relation to visitors' needs.
- Awareness of Action Counters Terrorism (ACT), SCaN, and HOT protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- To be alert to potential threats or hazards and report any serious incidents to the duty team leader.
- Follow emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Ensure all visitors are directed correctly.
- Monitor and respond to intruder/access/fire alarms.
- Prevent the admittance of unauthorised persons.
- Report damage to property or buildings that compromise security.
- Remain alert to activity on the site to ensure risks are minimised through prompt action, end-to-end investigation, and reporting.
- Investigate suspicious persons or vehicles immediately.
- Investigate alarm activations as per site procedures.
- Receive, direct, and escort emergency services and agencies.
- Maintain a healthy and safe place of work, ensuring all posts are in a clean and tidy condition at all times.
- Any further additional reasonable duties as requested.
- SIA DS License.
- Complete an accredited First Aid at Work training course and provide first aid in accordance with the training provided.
- Punctual.
- Smart and courteous at all times.
- Strong awareness of security procedures.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
All First Aiders must complete an accredited First Aid at Work training course and provide first aid in accordance with the training provided, and attend a refresher training course every 3 years. First Aiders shall:
- Respond promptly to all requests for assistance.
- Summon further help when necessary (emergency services).
- Look after the casualty until recovery has taken place or further medical assistance has arrived.
- Report details of any treatment administered.
- Ensure the Accident Report Book is completed for the customer health and safety officer.
