The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the Carlisle Family YMCA facility. This role ensures all areas of the Y are kept in a safe and sanitary condition, providing a welcoming and pleasant environment for members, guests and staff. The Custodian will perform a variety of cleaning tasks and maintenance duties while adhering to Y standards and safety protocols.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Cleaning and Maintenance
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors throughout the facility, including gyms, locker rooms, offices and common areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, showers and locker rooms, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies.
- Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, windows and walls.
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly.
- Maintain and clean equipment and supplies used in custodial tasks.
- Facility Upkeep
- Respond to emergency cleaning requests and spillages in a timely manner.
- Customer Service
- Provide courteous and helpful service to members, guests and staff.
- Address and resolve minor facility issues or concerns as they arise.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in custodial or janitorial work is a plus.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanor.
- Ability to lift, carry and move items up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
