Make a difference every day - join our Enhanced Resource Provision team at Carleton High School! A rewarding and impactful role supporting our new Enhanced Mainstream Resource Provision. We are excited to be recruiting for a number of compassionate, proactive and skilled Enhanced Resource Learning Support Assistants to join our dedicated team at Carleton High School.

Our brand-new Enhanced Mainstream Resource Provision (EMRP) opened on 13 April 2026 and provides specialist support for students with an EHCP for Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), placed via the Wakefield SEND Panel. The EMRP will provide a nurturing, bespoke learning environment where students can thrive, while still being fully included in the wider school community.

As an Enhanced LSA you will play a central role in supporting students throughout their weekly timetable. For up to 70% of the week, students will be learning in mainstream classrooms, where you will be on hand to help them engage with lessons, build confidence and develop increasing independence. During the remaining time in the resource base, you will work closely with students to deliver and facilitate individualised interventions and focused support, ensuring each young person receives the targeted input they need to make progress academically, socially and emotionally.

This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape a new provision from the very beginning and to make a real difference to the experience and outcomes of the young people we support.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the daily running of the Enhanced Mainstream Resource Provision and provide a safe, welcoming environment for students.
  • Work with individual students or small groups, planning suitable activities and interventions in line with the students’ EHCP provision requirements.
  • Monitor and record student progress, working closely with the Resource Leader, teachers and external professionals.
  • Help students transition between the resource base and mainstream classes while promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

Is this the role for you?

This role would suit someone who:

  • Has experience supporting students with SEND, especially those with communication and interaction needs or ASD.
  • Can adapt learning resources, build positive relationships and meet individual needs.
  • Communicates effectively with students, staff and families.
  • Is organised, reflective and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding and supporting students’ wellbeing.

If you have experience within the education sector working with students with additional needs, we welcome your application.
