Walsall Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Safeguarding Team. This pivotal role involves providing high-quality social work services to children and families in need, ensuring their safety and well-being. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to assess risk, develop intervention plans, and support vulnerable children and their families through challenging circumstances.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of children and families, identifying needs and risks.
  • Developing and implementing effective safeguarding plans in line with statutory requirements.
  • Providing supervision and support to junior staff and students, fostering their professional development.
  • Engaging with families, community organizations, and other agencies to promote positive outcomes.
  • Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • A minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience in child protection or safeguarding.
  • Strong analytical and assessment skills, with the ability to make sound judgments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to working in partnership with families.
