Social Worker - Looked After Children / Child In Care Team - Devon

Caritas Recruitment is seeking experienced Social Workers to join the Children Looked After (Corporate Parenting) North & Mid Team on both maternity cover and interim assignments.

Working within a fast-paced environment, you will build and maintain strong relationships with children, young people and their families, ensuring safety, stability and permanence while delivering high-quality social work practice.

About the Role

As a Social Worker within the Children Looked After Team, you will

  • Manage a caseload of children and young people in care
  • Complete high-quality assessments, care planning and reviews
  • Work closely with children, families and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes
  • Ensure no drift or delay in planning for children and young people
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings and court-related work where required
  • Deliver effective recording, assessment and SMART planning The service is committed to maintaining high standards of professional practice and supporting social workers to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.

  • Team: Children Looked After (Corporate Parenting) North Team
  • Location: Taw View, Barnstaple, EX31 1EE
  • Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • 9-day fortnight arrangements may be considered for suitable candidates subject to service needs
  • Hybrid working available, subject to service requirements
  • Minimum 1 day per week in the office required for duty days and team meetings
  • Flexibility to use alternative office locations on non-duty days may be available following discussion with the Team Manager
  • Free on-site parking available

Requirements

  • Social Work qualification
  • Social Work England registration
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Successful completion of ASYE
  • Experience within Children's Social Care
  • Experience working within multi-agency environments and court proceedings
  • Strong assessment, recording and planning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant children's social care legislation, theory and practice
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Access to a vehicle for work purposes

  • Up to £38 per hour (depending on experience)
  • £150 per week accommodation/commuter allowance available for candidates who meet eligibility criteria
