The Role

Cafcass is seeking an experienced Agency Family Court Adviser (FCA) to join the Work After First Hearing (WAFH) team based from the Peterborough office, covering Peterborough and South Lincolnshire. The WAFH team undertakes case management following the First Hearing Dispute Resolution Appointment (FHDRA), working across Public and Private Law to progress cases, complete safeguarding and risk assessments, and provide high-quality analysis and recommendations to the Family Court.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing allocated WAFH cases post-first hearing
  • Completing assessments and producing clear, analytical reports
  • Making professional recommendations focused on the welfare and best interests of children
  • Working effectively with courts, local authorities and partner agencies

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker
  • Registered with Social Work England (SWE)
  • Enhanced DBS issued within the last 12 months (via the submitting agency)
  • Right to Work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
  • Able to start with less than 4 weeks' notice
  • Experience in Public and/or Private Law children's services

Desirable

  • Minimum 3 years post-qualified experience

Role is to provide cover until 31 March 2027
