The Richmond Mental Health Social Care Team is recruiting a full‑time Social Worker based between Wandsworth High Street (SW18 2PU) and Twickenham Civic Centre. This hybrid role combines home working, office‑based duty, and mandatory team days. Twickenham is just a 20‑minute train journey from Clapham Junction.

This service supports adults aged 18-75 with severe and enduring mental health needs, delivering social care support separate from the clinical community mental health team.

About the Role

You will work as part of an experienced, supportive team and be responsible for managing a diverse and complex caseload. The team uses a strengths‑based, person‑centred model to support recovery, independence and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Completing complex Care Act Assessments and reviews
  • Undertaking Mental Capacity Act assessments
  • Completing Carers Assessments
  • Leading on and contributing to Safeguarding / Section 42 enquiries
  • Preparing Mental Health Tribunal Social Circumstance Reports
  • Using a consistent strengths‑based practice approach
  • Participating in the duty rota

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years post‑qualification experience
  • Experience managing a caseload involving complex mental health needs
  • Strong understanding of the Care Act, MCA, safeguarding and local authority duties
  • Confident, clear communicator with sound professional judgement
  • Team player able to collaborate with professionals across social care, health and community services

Pay Rate: £36 per hour
