Supervising Social Worker - Kinship Fostering Team
Manchester City Council is currently looking for an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join the highly regarded Kinship Fostering Team. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in helping children remain connected to their families by assessing, supporting and developing kinship foster placements that provide stability, safety and positive outcomes.

The Role
- Complete comprehensive kinship fostering assessments
- Undertake court-directed assessments and prepare high-quality reports
- Assess the suitability of family members and connected persons as foster carers
- Provide ongoing support, supervision and guidance to approved kinship carers
- Work closely with children's social workers, legal teams and multi-agency partners
- Ensure compliance with fostering regulations, legislation and safeguarding procedures
- Participate in the duty rota as required
What We’re Looking For
- Social Work England Registration
- Qualified Social Worker (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)
- Experience within Fostering, Kinship, Connected Persons or Family & Friends Assessments
- Strong report-writing and assessment skills
- Sound knowledge of fostering legislation, safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Ability to manage competing priorities and court timescales effectively
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
