About the Role:

Caritas Futures is partnering with a leading charity dedicated to supporting children and young people at risk of or affected by missing episodes. We are currently seeking a Missing from Care Project Worker to deliver crucial support services to vulnerable young people in Manchester.

In this temporary role, you will be responsible for providing the Missing from Home Return Interview Service, working closely with young people, families, and other professionals to ensure their safety and well-being. You will also play a key role in educating the community about the risks and realities of children and young people going missing, and help reduce the likelihood of future incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the Missing From Home Return Interview Service, engaging with young people who have gone missing from care and providing them with the support and guidance they need.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to provide coordinated, effective responses to children and young people who go missing.
  • Ensure the safety and emotional well-being of children at risk of going missing, offering tailored support to help reduce or prevent future missing episodes.
  • Work within the local community to provide information, education, and raise awareness about the risks faced by young people who go missing, ensuring that families, schools, and professionals are informed and engaged.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people in a support or safeguarding capacity, preferably within a social care or youth work setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and child protection procedures.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage young people and professionals and build trust with vulnerable individuals.
  • Empathetic, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting young people through challenging situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A current DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
