Cafcass is currently seeking an experienced Family Court Adviser (FCA) to join their team on a temporary agency basis. This role is based in Brighton with responsibility for cases across Sussex and Surrey.
As an FCA, you will play a critical role in representing children's best interests within private family law proceedings, undertaking safeguarding assessments, preparing high-quality reports for the court, and making clear, evidence-based recommendations.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake safeguarding and risk assessments in private law cases
- Prepare and present written and verbal evidence for court
- Work directly with children and families to ascertain wishes and feelings
- Liaise effectively with courts, local authorities, and partner agencies
- Manage a caseload in line with Cafcass standards and timescales
- Social Work England registration
- Right to Work in the UK
- Qualified Social Worker with post-qualifying experience
- Previous experience working as a Family Court Adviser or within Cafcass/private law proceedings
- Strong court report writing and analytical skills
- Recent Cafcass experience
- Experience covering Sussex and/or Surrey court areas
