Gateshead Council is seeking a qualified Social Worker (AP) in Child Protection to join our dynamic team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive environment and contribute to the safeguarding and wellbeing of vulnerable children in our community.

  • As a Social Worker in Child Protection, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting assessments and developing tailored care plans for children and families in need.
  • Working collaboratively with multi-agency teams to ensure the best outcomes for children.
  • Providing support, guidance, and intervention to families to promote positive change.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records while adhering to local and national policies.
  • Participating in court proceedings and presenting evidence as required.

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized Social Work qualification (Degree in Social Work, Dip SW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England as a qualified social worker.
  • Experience in child protection and safeguarding practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks, including the Children Act.
