We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Social Worker to join the Children's Intervention Team in Ealing. The successful candidate will work with children and families where there are complex safeguarding concerns, providing high-quality statutory social work interventions to ensure children's safety and promote positive outcomes.
You will manage a complex caseload, provide professional leadership, and contribute to service development within a fast-paced frontline environment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a complex caseload of children subject to Child Protection Plans, Child in Need Plans, and care proceedings.
- Undertake robust assessments, including Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries.
- Lead and coordinate safeguarding investigations and multi-agency interventions.
- Prepare high-quality reports for court, conferences, and statutory reviews.
- Initiate and progress care proceedings when required.
- Undertake direct work with children and families to promote safety, stability, and wellbeing.
- Chair and contribute to core groups, strategy meetings, and multi-agency forums.
- Provide professional guidance, mentoring, and support to less experienced social workers.
- Support newly qualified social workers and students where appropriate.
- Ensure statutory timescales and recording standards are met.
- Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with local authority policies.
- Participate in duty and emergency response rotas.
- Contribute to service improvement and quality assurance activities.
- Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Significant post-qualifying experience in statutory children's social work.
- Proven experience working within Child Protection, CIN, and Court Teams.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Working Together guidance.
- Experience of supervising or mentoring staff (desirable).
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
- Enhanced DBS check.
