The City of Doncaster is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join our Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the welfare and support of vulnerable young individuals who have arrived in the UK alone. As a Social Worker in this specialized field, you will be responsible for providing high-quality social work services, advocating for the best interests of children, and working collaboratively with various stakeholders to meet their needs.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of UASC to evaluate their needs and risks.
- Developing and implementing care plans in collaboration with children, families, and other professionals.
- Providing emotional support and guidance to UASC, helping them navigate the complexities of their situations.
- Facilitating access to education, healthcare, and other essential services.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation in accordance with legal and organizational standards.
- Participating in multi‑agency meetings and contributing to strategic planning for UASC services.
The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
- A recognized Social Work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
- Current Social Work England registration.
- Experience working with children and young people, particularly in the context of asylum and immigration.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices related to social work and UASC.
