Are you a passionate and dedicated Social Worker looking to make a difference in the lives of children and young people? Barking & Dagenham is seeking a committed individual to join our Corporate Parenting Team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with a range of professionals to ensure the best outcomes for children in care and care leavers, providing support, advocacy, and guidance as they navigate their journey towards independence.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing the needs of children in care and developing tailored care plans.
  • Working closely with families, foster carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to each child’s care.
  • Conducting regular reviews and monitoring progress to adapt care strategies as necessary.
  • Providing emotional support and practical assistance to children and young people.
  • Promoting the rights and voice of children in care, ensuring their views are heard and respected.

The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:

  • A recognized Social Work qualification (e.g., BA/MA in Social Work).
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience working within a corporate parenting or children’s services context.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in child welfare.
