Children's Social Worker - Assessment & Child Protection

Caritas Recruitment is working with West Sussex County Council to recruit an experienced Children's Social Worker to join the Western Area Team, based at County Hall, Chichester.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner with strong frontline safeguarding and child protection experience to join a supportive team focused on achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake high-quality assessments and care planning
- Complete child protection and safeguarding investigations
- Carry out direct work with children and families
- Assess risk and identify appropriate interventions
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies and professionals
- Ensure children are safeguarded in line with legislation, policy, and best practice
Requirements
- Social Work England registered Social Worker
- Minimum 3 years' post-qualified experience within UK Local Authority Children's Services
- Recent frontline child protection experience
- Strong risk assessment and analytical skills
- Experience of direct work with children and families
- Excellent multi-agency working experience
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Working Arrangements
- Based at County Hall, Chichester
- Covering the Western Area (Chichester & Bognor Regis)
- Full-time contract
- Hybrid working with 2 office days per week plus duty day attendance
- Travel across the county may be required
Additional Information
- Up to £42.00 per hour
- Rates are subject to WSCC's Market of Constraints framework and assessed on experience and competency
- Candidates must have completed a minimum of 3 years' direct permanent employment within Local Authority Children's Social Care in England
- Two detailed DfE-format practice references required
