We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our team in Plymouth. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard and their rights are upheld throughout the care planning process. You will work closely with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to facilitate effective reviews and ensure that care plans meet the individual needs of children and young people.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting independent reviews of care plans for children and young people in care.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice guidelines.
- Promoting the participation of children and young people in their own reviews.
- Collaborating with multi-agency partners to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of care plans.
- Providing feedback and recommendations to improve service delivery and outcomes for children.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
- Current registration with Social Work England.
- Significant experience in children’s social work, particularly in the area of child protection and care planning.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage with children and families.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
