Nottingham City is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker specializing in Age Assessments for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). This pivotal role requires a skilled professional who can navigate the complexities of age assessment processes, ensuring the welfare and rights of vulnerable children are upheld. As a Social Worker in this capacity, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of UASC, conducting thorough assessments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic support.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting age assessments in accordance with legal and ethical standards, ensuring accurate and fair evaluations.
  • Developing and implementing care plans tailored to the individual needs of UASC, promoting their emotional and physical well-being.
  • Collaborating with external agencies, including healthcare providers, educational institutions, and legal representatives, to facilitate comprehensive support.
  • Maintaining detailed case records and documentation, ensuring compliance with local and national policies.
  • Participating in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and keep up to date with best practices in social work.

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • A recognized Social Work qualification (e.g., BA/MA in Social Work).
  • Registration with Social Work England or equivalent body.
  • Experience in conducting age assessments and working with UASC or similar vulnerable populations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and young people.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to child welfare and asylum processes.
