We are seeking a qualified social worker to join a specialist child and family service as an Agency Family Court Adviser in Norwich. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and families involved in private or public law proceedings, providing high-quality assessments, professional advice and recommendations to support safe, child-focused outcomes. You will work within a multidisciplinary environment and contribute to decisions that promote children’s welfare, safety and best interests.

Your responsibilities will include undertaking thorough assessments of children and families, identifying risk and protective factors, and gathering information from a range of sources. You will establish effective relationships with children, parents, carers and professionals, ensuring that children’s voices are heard and appropriately represented. You will prepare clear, evidence-based reports and recommendations for the court, attend hearings when required, and provide professional advice in line with relevant legislation, guidance and safeguarding procedures. You will also maintain accurate case records, manage a varied caseload effectively and meet all required deadlines.

Applicants must hold a recognised social work qualification and current registration with the relevant professional regulator. Substantial experience in children’s social care, child protection, safeguarding, family court work or a related setting is essential, along with a sound understanding of child development, permanence planning, domestic abuse, neglect and the impact of parental conflict. You will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical ability and confidence presenting professional evidence. The successful candidate will be organised, resilient and able to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team. A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, professional integrity and improving outcomes for children is essential. Experience of preparing court statements or giving evidence would be advantageous.
