An experienced and committed Children’s Social Worker is required to join a specialist team supporting children, young people and their families. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload, completing high-quality assessments and making informed decisions that promote children’s safety, wellbeing and development. You will work directly with children and families to identify strengths, risks and needs, develop effective plans, and ensure that children’s voices and wishes remain central to all interventions.
Key responsibilities will include undertaking statutory assessments, contributing to child protection enquiries and conferences, preparing and reviewing care plans, and progressing cases in line with relevant legislation, policies and professional standards. You will maintain accurate and timely records, produce clear reports, attend court and other formal meetings where required, and work collaboratively with education, health, police, youth justice and voluntary-sector partners. The role also involves identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns, managing risk, supporting permanence planning, and ensuring that agreed actions are followed through and reviewed.
You must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. The role requires substantial post-qualification experience in children’s social care, including the ability to manage complex cases and work confidently within a statutory framework. You should have a sound understanding of safeguarding practice, relevant children’s legislation and evidence-based approaches to assessment and intervention. Excellent communication, analytical and report-writing skills are essential, together with resilience, sound professional judgement and the ability to build constructive relationships with children, families and partner agencies. A commitment to reflective practice, continuous learning and positive outcomes for children is expected.
