Lewisham's Looked After Children (LAC) Team is seeking a qualified Children's Social Worker to join our dynamic team. In this rewarding role, you will work collaboratively with children, families, and various stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for those in our care.

As a Children's Social Worker in the LAC Team, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments to identify the needs of children and young people.
  • Developing and implementing care plans that promote the welfare and development of looked-after children.
  • Building positive relationships with children, families, and foster carers to support stability and well-being.
  • Working closely with multi-agency partners to ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding and support.
  • Participating in court proceedings and presenting evidence as required.

The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:

  • A recognized social work qualification (BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent).
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience working within a statutory children’s social work setting, specifically with looked-after children.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children and families.
