We are seeking a qualified Children's Social Worker to join a busy Fostering Team in Solihull. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner to contribute to the assessment, approval, support and review of foster carers, helping to ensure children and young people receive safe, stable and nurturing placements. You will work collaboratively with foster carers, children, families, schools, health professionals and partner agencies to promote positive outcomes and safeguard children from harm.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking fostering assessments in line with relevant legislation, regulations and practice standards; preparing clear, analytical reports for fostering panels and decision-makers; and completing regular supervision, reviews and visits with approved foster carers. You will provide professional advice, guidance and practical support, respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, and contribute to placement planning, stability and permanency. The role will also involve maintaining accurate case records, managing a varied caseload, participating in meetings and contributing to service development and quality assurance activity.
You must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current professional registration, with relevant post-qualifying experience in children's social care. Experience of fostering, connected persons assessments, placement support or court-related work would be highly desirable. You should have strong knowledge of child protection procedures, care planning, fostering regulations and assessment frameworks, together with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to analyse complex information, work autonomously, prioritise competing demands and build effective professional relationships is essential. A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, children's rights and achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people is expected. The successful candidate will be subject to appropriate safer recruitment checks and must be able to travel to undertake visits and attend meetings as required.
