The London Borough of Lewisham is seeking a qualified Children's Social Worker to join our Looked After Children (LAC) Team. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting vulnerable children and their families, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting assessments and developing care plans in collaboration with children, families, and other professionals.
  • Managing a caseload of children and young people who are in care, ensuring their needs are met through effective intervention.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with children and families to encourage engagement and participation.
  • Working closely with schools, health services, and other agencies to provide holistic support.
  • Participating in court proceedings and presenting evidence where necessary to safeguard the welfare of children.

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Demonstrable experience working with children in a social work setting, particularly within the looked-after sector.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding practices.
