We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Children's Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to join our team in Barnet. This pivotal role involves providing tailored support to children and young people affected by domestic violence. You will work closely with families, schools, and various agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of children in challenging circumstances, helping them to navigate their experiences and access vital resources.
As a Children's IDVA, your key responsibilities will include:
- Assessing the needs and risks faced by children and young people in domestic violence situations.
- Providing one-on-one support and guidance to children, ensuring they feel safe and heard.
- Collaborating with multi-agency teams to develop and implement safety plans.
- Facilitating workshops and support groups to empower young people and raise awareness about domestic violence.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with safeguarding procedures.
The ideal candidate will possess a relevant qualification in social work, youth work, or a related field, along with proven experience working with children and families in crisis. Essential skills include excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, a strong understanding of child protection legislation, and the capacity to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
