We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join our team in Bedford, specializing in Special Guardianship Orders (SGO) assessments. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting children and families by conducting thorough assessments, providing guidance, and ensuring the best interests of children are prioritized. This position requires a proactive and empathetic approach, as well as a commitment to upholding the values and standards of social work practice.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive SGO assessments in line with local and national guidelines.
  • Collaborating with families, children, and relevant stakeholders to gather information and insights.
  • Preparing detailed reports and recommendations based on assessment findings.
  • Providing ongoing support and guidance to special guardians throughout the assessment process.
  • Participating in multi-agency meetings to advocate for the needs of children and families.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent).
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting SGO assessments or similar child welfare assessments.
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse families.
