Main duties of the job:

  • Assisting and performing routine nursing tasks related to patient care.
  • Support patients to improve and maintain their mental, physical, behavioural health and wellbeing by using behaviour change interventions.
  • To undertake adult and child NHS immunisation programmes and cervical screening.
  • To be competent in wound care management.
  • To lead and support on chronic disease management.
  • To participate in developments within the practice / network and support QOF / DES requirements.

Caritas Group practice is a practice over 3 sites with approx 8000 patients. We are a supportive team with a passion for providing first class health care, striving to provide the best service we can to our practice population. It can be demanding at times but equally very rewarding.

Job responsibilities:

  • Offer a holistic approach to travel health by providing comprehensive advice to patients prior to travel including vaccinations and medicines, safe sex, food hygiene, sun protection.
  • Offer advice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are administered under patient group directions.
  • Running well person clinics and health promotion programmes, facilitating change by providing holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise.
  • Able to document consultations according to NMC guidelines.
  • Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for cervical cytology smear tests.
  • Provide a holistic approach to wound management and implement wound care in line with current evidence based guidelines.
  • Suture removal.
  • Able to recognise and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written).
  • Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained.
  • Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment to include refrigeration, sterilizer and emergency equipment.
  • Confidentiality of information gained at work must be preserved at all times.

  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
