Create meaningful change by providing compassionate, trauma-informed support to children and their families. Part time up to 32 hours (Mon-Thurs).

As a Child & Family Therapist, you’ll provide professional counselling and therapeutic support to children, young people, and families engaged with Carinity Wahroonga. Using a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach, you’ll help families build stronger relationships, enhance children’s safety and wellbeing, and connect with vital community resources.

You’ll play an important role in promoting awareness and education around child safety, domestic violence, sexual, physical & emotional abuse, youth mental health, and suicide prevention. Working collaboratively in a supportive multidisciplinary team, you’ll have the opportunity to see the positive impact of your work firsthand.

Your Day-to-day Will Involve:

  • Deliver individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based interventions
  • Undertake assessments to inform appropriate therapeutic responses
  • Work collaboratively within a case management framework alongside other professionals and agencies
  • Develop and maintain accurate case notes, reports, and program documentation
  • Contribute to community programs and education initiatives promoting child safety and wellbeing
  • Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and professional development

About You:

You’re an experienced therapist who is passionate about supporting children and families through life’s challenges. You bring strong clinical skills, emotional intelligence, and a collaborative spirit to your work. You have excellent communication and report writing skills, and the ability to build genuine rapport with families, children, and community stakeholders.

In addition:

  • A tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related discipline
  • Eligibility for registration or membership with a relevant professional body
  • Experience providing therapeutic support in areas such as child trauma, sexual, physical & emotional abuse, and youth mental health
  • Experience in or willingness to learn external supervision skills
  • Sound understanding of the Child Protection Act and related legislation
  • A current Blue Card and a current Driver’s Licence
