Job Purpose and Impact
The Financial Trading Group Trader will drive profit generation through the financial trading group’s proprietary trading activities with a primary focus on South Africa, Brazil and/or Mexican Markets. In this role, you will actively trade and invest in the assigned markets including foreign exchange, interest rates, and sovereign credit and ensure desk profitability and pursue alpha generation through proprietary positioning.
Key Accountabilities
- Generate profits by trading the assigned instruments including foreign exchange, local rates, or sovereign credit, with primary focus South Africa, Brazil and/or Mexico.
- Book and accurately reflect positions and strategies traded.
- Execute all desk trades across different asset classes to ensure minimum slippage and execution errors and independently handle counterparty interactions and resolve transactional issues with them.
- Provide trade ideas and research information to other team members as well as identify new trading strategies that complement the portfolio and augment the desk profit and loss.
- Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify opportunities and problems.
- Provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Confirmed financial trading track record with consistent high risk return results in the aforementioned markets.
- Minimum of six years of related work experience.
- Other minimum qualifications may apply.
Prior Beneficial Experience
- Generating trading profits in foreign exchange rates, local rates, sovereign credit markets and similar instruments.
- Providing trade ideas and research information to related team members.
