Job Purpose and Impact
The Automation Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer will apply technical knowledge to develop and maintain overall governance on standards, application, gaps, solutions and measurements to increase production quality, efficiency and volume for the business across multiple sites. In this role, you will perform day to day activities related to automation, electrical and instrumentation engineering in a high-hazard (ATEX) environment to enable projects and improve our capabilities by providing engineering support for the organization including root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
- Apply general knowledge of principles, terms, and practices of automation, electrical and instrumentation engineering to support the plants.
- Coordinate and provide direct support and delivery of E&I services.
- Execute and support automation, electrical and instrumentation engineering standards and deliverables in capital projects.
- Monitor and support progress for projects with low to medium levels of complexity and ensure appropriate resource allocations and portfolio prioritization.
- Support more senior team members to assess automation, electrical and instrumentation engineering development and application opportunities and further dissemination across common practice areas.
- Support, analyze and develop conclusions regarding areas of improvement and identify opportunities to improve performance and determine acceptable risk tolerance.
- Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Provide mentoring for the plant Electrical Leads, supervise and monitor the implementation of the Electrical Maintenance Program.
- Participate in the RCA’s, problem-solving meetings and bad actor elimination.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience.
- Related work experience in high-hazard chemical environments.
- Experience as a maintenance/commissioning engineer, instrument bias.
- Other minimum qualifications may apply.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience of working on equipment in ATEX/Zoned areas preferred.
- Intermediate project management skills.
- Strong technical and mathematical skills.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
- Experience working cross-functionally with teams and leadership stakeholders.
- Strong collaboration skills are critical due to large operational area varied stakeholders.
- Familiarity with SAP and AutoCAD is an added advantage.
