Join us at Car Finance 247 as a Dealer Underwriter, where you'll dive into the fast-paced environment of car loan evaluation. You will evaluate customer car loan applications and make lending decisions on those applications. The Broker Underwriter will review personal application details for potential fraud markers, analyse customer credit profiles, complete bank checks, and review the vehicle against lending criteria.

CarFinance 247 has a range of lenders with specific criteria. We have a data science model which helps identify whether the customer is eligible to fit that lender. In many cases, this may not be the case and it is the job of our Broker Underwriter to review the application for specific clues which may indicate that it could be accepted by one of our lenders if it met certain conditions. You will operate in a fast-paced environment where both pace and accuracy of work are equally important, providing a high-quality service to CarFinance 247 and to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite business in line with Company Credit Policy and Compliance guidelines, ensuring good outcomes for both the customer and the business.
  • Conduct yourself in a manner that upholds and promotes the 247 Group Company Values guiding principles and behaviours.
  • Communicate effectively with the broker division and customers both verbally and over email/letter.
  • Work to ensure that the highest level of service is consistently delivered to the customer.
  • Work in an organised fashion to ensure productivity and effective management of your caseload.
  • Achieve individual KPIs for approvals, QA, and SLAs.
  • Adhere to the Supply of Goods Act 1982, Consumer Rights Act 2015, TCF, DPA and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) guidelines.
  • Maintain case management and CRM software systems with accurate and comprehensive notes.

About You

Key Experience Required:

  • Essential - previous experience within a credit underwriting role, preferable in vehicle finance.
  • Detailed knowledge of analysing and interpreting customer credit profiles.
  • Ability to work autonomously and consistently practice accurate judgement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive situations and sometimes vulnerable or challenging customers.
  • Knowledge of regulations relating to compliance, data protection, Anti Money Laundering, Consumer Credit Directive, Consumer Credit Act ideal.
