We're looking for a forward-thinking, people-first Group IT Director to lead and shape the future of IT across the Carey Group. This is a senior, strategic role in our business—ideal for a passionate leader who thrives on building high-performing teams, enabling transformation, and delivering stable, secure systems that keep the business moving. We are open to this role being based in either our London or Glasgow offices.

You'll be joining a fantastic group of smart, committed individuals who care deeply about what they do. We're a hardworking, humble and supportive bunch who take pride in doing things right—together. Whether your experience comes from construction, logistics, manufacturing, or retail, you'll understand the importance of operational excellence, and you'll bring with you a natural ability to translate complex technical needs into business value.

As Group IT Director, you'll be responsible for ensuring our infrastructure, systems, and digital tools are robust, secure and scalable. You'll work closely with senior leaders across our construction, drylining, and plant & fleet businesses, leading an expert team of 15 and shaping the strategic direction of IT to support growth, innovation and day-to-day operations.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and develop a high-performing IT team, embedding a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement
  • Ensure robust systems, cybersecurity and business continuity protocols are in place
  • Oversee infrastructure, support, software licensing, and application performance
  • Align IT strategy with business goals and operational needs
  • Provide clear, strategic input on capacity planning, vendor relationships, and IT governance
  • Drive insights and improved decision-making through data strategy and reporting
  • Act as a trusted advisor to our leadership teams—collaborating, challenging and enabling success

What We're Looking For

  • A seasoned IT leader with proven experience across enterprise infrastructure, digital transformation, and team leadership
  • A hands‐on understanding of Microsoft, ERP systems, cloud platforms and networking
  • Strong communication and stakeholder skills—you translate tech into meaningful business outcomes
  • Practical experience leading IT in complex operational environments (construction, logistics, manufacturing or retail experience a big plus!)
  • Someone who leads with care, humility, passion and authenticity—values we live by every day

Why Join Us

At Careys, we're building something special. A trusted, socially responsible construction group where people are proud to work. You'll be part of a leadership team that values innovation, integrity and impact—and a wider team that supports each other, works hard and has a laugh along the way. If you're a strategic thinker who can roll up your sleeves, lead with heart and help us shape the next chapter of our IT journey—we'd love to hear from you.
