Our Plant and Fleet business provides a key service to the wider Carey Group, owning and servicing the plant and fleet used across our construction projects - UK wide. We’re looking for a commercially minded Plant Hire Financial Accountant to partner with our operational teams, bringing clarity and insight through high‑quality reporting that supports confident decision‑making.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Own the end‑to‑end month‑end management accounts process, including preparation of the reporting pack for Group Senior Leadership, with clear commentary and insight.
- Build strong working relationships with Plant and Fleet operational teams, acting as their key Finance contact.
- Lead quarterly reforecasts and the annual budget process with Operational teams, in line with Group timetables.
- Oversee cashflow forecasting, helping to maintain appropriate working capital.
- Review capex/opex business cases to ensure proposals deliver value and align to budgets and strategy.
- Own the year‑end audit process for the company, supporting statutory accounts preparation and liaising with external auditors and tax advisers.
- Review and improve finance processes and controls, ensuring they remain robust and fit for purpose.
- Support ad‑hoc analysis and projects as required.
What You Will Bring:
- Qualified accountant (preferably ACA or equivalent), ideally with an audit background (this role would suit a newly qualified accountant).
- Up‑to‑date technical knowledge of UK GAAP and strong understanding of financial control requirements.
- Proven experience delivering month‑end and year‑end reporting to strict deadlines.
- Strong Excel capability (VLOOKUP and pivot tables essential) and solid MS Office skills.
- Methodical, well organised and detail focused, with the ability to prioritise and deliver.
- Confident communicator who can partner effectively with operational stakeholders and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proactive, improvement‑minded self‑starter with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Logistics, Manufacturing industry experience and/or familiarity with COINS ERP would be advantageous.
