What you will be doing:

  • Lead setting out, engineering control, and ensure dimensional accuracy across the project.
  • Review design information for buildability, resolve issues, and coordinate approvals with designers and clients.
  • Identify and agree additional works with the PM/QS while supporting commercial controls and risk management.
  • Mentor and manage Site/Section Engineers, subcontractors, and operatives to ensure safe, high-quality delivery.
  • Ensure construction information is accurate, timely, and communicated to all relevant teams and subcontractors.
  • Oversee material testing, compliance checks, and provide technical guidance on material selection and interactions.
  • Prepare and monitor medium-term programmes, drive productivity improvements, and manage material and subcontractor requisitions.
  • Act as Temporary Works Coordinator, design low/medium-risk temporary works, and manage TW equipment and sequencing.
  • Prepare and approve RAMS, ensure safe systems of work, and maintain strong public and workforce safety standards.
  • Implement project quality procedures, audit subcontractors, ensure 'Right First Time' delivery, and close out NCRs effectively.

What you will bring:

  • HNC or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • SMSTS and Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
  • Membership of ICE or other chartered body (desirable).
  • 6+ years' experience on major civil engineering projects.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and apprentices.
  • Strong technical knowledge across civil engineering disciplines.
  • Competent in temporary works, quality assurance, and material testing.
  • Skilled in surveying and setting out.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong problem-solver with practical, actionable thinking.
  • Confident leading teams and coordinating multiple workstreams.
