We’re looking for an ambitious Estimator to join our Milton Keynes team, working on major, high-profile civils and infrastructure projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in securing exciting work and shaping projects from the earliest stages.

As an Estimator, you’ll be at the heart of our pre-construction team, developing accurate and competitive tenders while collaborating closely with operational and commercial teams.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop detailed budgets from first principles, including labour, materials, plant, and equipment
  • Analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure best value
  • Review drawings, specifications, programmes, and scope of works
  • Carry out accurate measurement and quantity take-offs using tools such as Bluebeam / ACC Take Off
  • Produce Bills of Quantities in line with relevant methods of measurement (e.g. SMM7)
  • Identify project risks and opportunities, contributing to a risk & opportunity register
  • Explore and propose value engineering solutions
  • Support and participate in bid negotiations and client meetings
  • Produce tender reports for adjudication and take part in review and settlement meetings
  • Collaborate with internal teams and actively contribute to knowledge sharing

What you will bring:

  • Experience in civils projects such as groundworks, substructure, drainage, roadworks, paving, earthworks, or RC frames
  • A solid understanding of estimating principles and methods of measurement (e.g. SMM7)
  • Experience using electronic take-off tools (e.g. Bluebeam, ACC or similar)
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with commercial awareness
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management
  • Experience with estimating software such as Candy
