We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Apprentice Designer to join our Design team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to kickstart a career in construction design. You will work closely with experienced Designers, gaining hands-on experience with technical drawings, 3D modelling, and project coordination across various construction projects.
As an Apprentice Designer, you will support the preparation of technical documentation, assist in the design coordination process, and develop a strong understanding of relevant building regulations and industry practices within Interior fit-out.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Designers in preparing drawings, 3D models, and technical submittals.
- Help manage 3D modelling, clash reviews, and issue resolution tasks.
- Upload and issue documentation to collaboration platforms (e.g., BIM 360, ACC).
- Support the review and approval processes on collaboration platforms.
- Produce and issue final As-Built information.
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain technical specifications.
- Attend and document design meetings and actions.
- Visit live projects to understand site challenges and support issue resolution.
- Develop understanding of manufacturer systems, specifications, and trade regulations.
- Familiarise yourself with relevant Approved Documents and building regulations.
Documentation & Quality
- Create drawing issue lists and information required schedules.
- Assist in reviewing consultants’ drawings and specifications.
- Prepare partition schedules and other supporting documentation.
- Contribute to the production of Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Assist with compiling O&M Manuals and pre-registration documentation.
Project & Procurement Support
- Attend new project handover meetings with Designers.
- Assist in the procurement of specialist products (e.g., metal ceilings, riser doors).
Training & Development
- Attend BIM coordination meetings to gain understanding of digital workflows.
- Learn the fundamentals of:
- AutoCAD for 2D design.
- Revit for 3D modelling.
- Navisworks for clash detection.
- Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) for document and issue management.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Are passionate about construction design and the interiors sector.
- Are confident in building relationships with peers and clients.
- Willing to learn, ask questions and contribute to the team’s success.
- A Levels, BTEC or equivalent in a relevant subject.
