We are recruiting Senior Support Workers to join our service in New Romney, supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs. Whether you’re new to care or experienced, this is an opportunity to build a rewarding, long-term career and truly make a difference!
About the Service – Beech Care
Beech Care is situated in a quiet residential area of New Romney and is within easy reach of the amenities. Beech Care is a bungalow, a residential service supporting service users with physical disabilities and learning disabilities. The service users enjoy visiting the local amenities, having a stroll down to the beach, going swimming, bowling, and going out for meals and picnics. The kitchen has been adapted with easy access for the service users to do cooking/baking. Beech Care has its own sensory room for the service users to enjoy relaxing music and lights. Beech Care currently supports 5 service users (4 female and 1 male) who need support with physical disabilities. Some are wheelchair bound and require hoisting. Some are non-verbal. Access to the garden is via a ramp; service users enjoy using the trampoline and looking after the sensory garden.
The Role
- To supervise and lead a team of support workers to enable our service users to lead as fulfilling and satisfying a life as they possibly can.
- To act as a role model for staff, encouraging them to understand the people you are supporting.
- To be actively engaged with service users and staff, continuously seeking opportunities for improvements to service users’ lifestyles and staff’s skills and commitment to achieve this.
- To participate in the day-to-day implementation of individual support plans and activities within a challenging environment.
- To maintain effective communication and liaison with service users, families, and others whilst respecting appropriate confidentiality.
- To maintain accurate notes and records as and when required.
- To work as part of a team to provide high-quality care.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking people who are caring, patient, and respectful, with a positive and resilient approach. You should be confident working independently and within a team, have good communication skills, basic IT and written abilities, and be flexible and reliable.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is essential.
- Experience in supporting adults with challenging behaviour, learning disabilities, and/or mental health issues.
- The ability to keep calm under pressure.
- Confidence to work alone and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The passion to work with vulnerable adults.
- The desire and commitment to achieve high standards of safeguarding.
