We are looking for a Children’s Home Registered Manager to assist the Head of Service in achieving the aims and objectives outlined in the Statement of Purpose of the Children’s homes and addressing the wider needs of the site at Merida.
This role involves managing a two-bedded home that caters to children aged 12 to 18 years who require additional support due to mental illness or concerns about their safety due to significant risks of self-injurious behaviours. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, which includes our on-site school, you will collaborate with the clinical team and teachers to support the children in their transitions from Merida, following the successful achievement of the goals set out in their care plans.

Entry salary up to ÂŁ65,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

As a Registered Manager our expectation is that your home will be rated as at least “Good” by Ofsted. This is a 2 bed Children’s Home where you will:
- Develop Comprehensive Care Plans: Ensure each young person has a tailored plan that addresses their care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs.
- Complete company induction and personal development plans, retaining a strong team to ensure familiar faces for the young people.
- Foster Consultation: Develop systems to consult young people about the care they receive.
- Assign a Key Worker to each young person to implement their care plan.
- Establish and monitor high-quality care standards in line with the quality standards and the Home’s Statement of Purpose.
- Handle Complaints and Concerns: Take responsibility for addressing any complaints or child protection concerns.
- Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to promote the welfare of young people.
- Participate in Meetings: Attend and contribute to care planning and review meetings as appropriate.
- Ensure the children in your service are cared for at the best possible standard.
- Effective Commercial Management of your home: Passionate about making the difference to the lives of young people in care.
Relevant Experience:
- At least 2 years in a position related to residential care of children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.
- Level 3 in Children's Residential Care is essential. Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is preferred at point of application, if not then you must be enrolled on the Level 5 within 6 months of starting in post.
- Understanding of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation, and regulatory requirements.
- Planning, organising, budget control, resource allocation, and team leadership.
- Knowledge of the needs of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, including managing challenging behaviour.
