Rate: £27.21ph via an Umbrella Company (Inside IR35) or £20.35ph on a PAYE basis

Position Description:

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our client is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Vehicle Concepts Engineer to join the Whole Vehicle Concepts team within VAVE Off‑Cycle Projects. In this role, you will support the creation of early‑phase CAD schemes that contribute to the upper‑body and/or under‑body package layout for future Jaguar and Land Rover products. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will help ensure that concept layouts meet Engineering, Manufacturing, and Creative requirements during the Concept phase (pre‑CS to KO). You will collaborate closely with teams including Vehicle Architectures and Engineering, Body & Chassis Concepts, Studio, Human Factors, Body Structural Integration, and Advanced Powertrain. This is an excellent opportunity to use your skills to influence the development of future Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles and architectures, whilst working alongside passionate and talented people.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD creation and visualisation, with hands‑on experience in Catia V6 or a comparable 3D modelling package. The role involves extensive CAD work, supporting the development of whole‑vehicle concept layouts.
  • Understanding of fundamental vehicle packaging principles, in at least one of the following areas and have experience of working within at least one UN or UP Zone:
  • Upper body: occupant positioning, IP/console layout, steering column, pedals, ingress/egress, visibility, trunk usability.
  • Underbody: ground lines, attitude planes, clearances, approach/departure angles, axle locations, tyre envelopes, and basic powertrain motion envelopes.
  • A proactive attitude to learning and to taking ownership of tasks, with the ability to manage work under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently when given clear direction.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to present work clearly, share knowledge proactively, and seek feedback constructively.
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills, with a willingness to engage proactively with colleagues in different locations to support effective teamwork.
