Multicultural Community Engagement Officer
Carers SA is the peak body for Carers in South Australia, advocating for greater recognition and improved support. We provide services and support for Carers of all ages and is the Statewide lead Carer Gateway provider.

About the Role
As the Multicultural Community Engagement Officer, you’ll play a vital role in strengthening Carers SA’s connection with South Australia’s diverse multicultural communities. You’ll engage directly with community groups, leaders, and organisations to raise awareness of the role Carers play and the supports available through Carers SA.
In this dynamic role, you’ll build strong partnerships with multicultural‑led organisations, deliver culturally inclusive information sessions, attend community events, and identify opportunities for collaboration to improve access and inclusion. You’ll also coordinate and grow the Multicultural Carer Collective — providing a platform for Carers from diverse cultural backgrounds to share lived experiences and influence service improvements.

Key responsibilities (not limited to):
- Build trusted relationships with multicultural communities, organisations, and Carers SA’s multicultural partner agencies
- Deliver culturally appropriate information sessions, forums, and community engagement activities
- Promote awareness of Carers SA services within multicultural networks and cultural events
- Strengthen partnerships and identify new collaboration opportunities across multicultural sectors
- Lead and coordinate the Multicultural Carer Collective to ensure meaningful Carer participation and feedback
- Contribute to inclusive communications and engagement strategies that reflect diverse cultural needs
- Provide accurate and timely reporting on engagement activities and outcomes
About You
You’re a natural connector and communicator who values cultural diversity and inclusion. You bring experience in community engagement and have a genuine passion for working with multicultural groups to create positive change.
With strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness, you can engage authentically, adapt communication to your audience, and build partnerships that make a real difference. You thrive in collaborative environments and have the initiative to work independently when needed.
You’ll bring:
- Experience in community engagement, partnerships, or multicultural service delivery
- Strong knowledge of multicultural communities and an understanding of the barriers to accessing services
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills
- A collaborative, respectful approach and the ability to build rapport across cultures
- Competency in reporting, planning, and using CRM systems
- Experience working with or supporting Carers, ability to speak a language other than English and lived experience as a Carer will be highly regarded, but not essential
Requirements
- Recognised qualifications in Social Services, Community Services or equivalent and/or significant relevant experience in the Community Services sector
- Current DHS Working with Children Check
- Current National Police Check
- Mandatory child protection training (or willingness to complete)
