We’re looking for Community Enablers to join our friendly team and support people aged 18 and over to stay independent, connected and active within their local communities.

We support a diverse range of people, including older people and elderly clients, young adults, people living with dementia, people with learning disabilities, and people who may need additional support to remain independent and engaged in their community.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are necessarily the same. You could be spending an hour enjoying a coffee and a chat with a client, accompanying someone to an appointment, helping with their weekly shopping, supporting them to attend a community group or club, or simply helping them get out and about and enjoy the things that matter to them.

Visits can range from 1 to 6 hours, depending on the individual needs and preferences of the people we support.

We’re looking for people who are reliable, friendly, flexible and genuinely enjoy spending time with others. Previous care experience isn't essential; what matters most is your attitude, patience and willingness to support people in a respectful and person-centred way.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Community Enabler, you'll support people aged 18+ to maintain their independence and stay connected with the people, places and activities that are important to them.

The people we support may have a range of needs and circumstances. This could include older people, young adults, people living with dementia, people with learning disabilities, or individuals who simply need some additional support to get out, stay active and maintain their independence.

Your role could include:

• Providing friendly companionship and conversation
• Supporting clients to get out and about in their local community
• Accompanying clients to appointments
• Helping with shopping and everyday errands
• Supporting people to attend community groups, clubs and activities
• Going for walks, visiting local places or enjoying a coffee together
• Helping clients maintain social connections and hobbies
• Encouraging independence and confidence
• Providing practical support with everyday tasks
• Building positive, trusting relationships with the people you support

Every client is different, so the support you provide will be tailored to their individual interests, needs, abilities and goals.

A Role with Variety

One of the things that makes this role so rewarding is the variety.

You might spend part of your week supporting a young adult to attend a local club, another day helping an older person with a shopping trip, and another accompanying someone to an appointment or simply spending time together over a cup of coffee.

You may also support people living with dementia or learning disabilities, helping them to remain active, confident and connected to their local community.

The role is about more than providing support; it’s about helping people remain independent, active and connected to their community.

Flexibility That Works Around You

We understand that everyone's circumstances are different.

We have part-time and full-time positions available, with many visits taking place between 9am and 7pm.

We’re looking for people who can offer flexibility around their availability, and we’ll work with you to build a schedule that works for both you and the people we support.

Where You'll Work

We support clients across South Devon, including:

Bovey Tracey, Chudleigh, Newton Abbot, Ogwell, Kingskerswell, South Brent, Ivybridge and surrounding areas.

You may work across several local communities depending on your availability and the needs of the people we support.

A Few Essentials

• Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
• Flexibility to work across a range of days and times
• A driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred due to the community-based nature of the role
