About The Role
We are looking for compassionate, motivated, and reliable Support Workers to join our dedicated team at St Stephens. In this role, you will support individuals with mental health needs and physical disabilities, helping them to live safe, meaningful, and fulfilling lives. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting residents with a variety of activities—such as shopping, attending appointments, household tasks, and medication administration. Many of the people you will support have complex needs, including behaviours that challenge, requiring patience, empathy, and a commitment to person-centred care. This role is about far more than delivering personal care. You will play an essential part in building trusting relationships, encouraging independence, and promoting positive life experiences. Using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), you will help residents make choices, develop skills, and feel valued as individuals. Every day will offer an opportunity to make a real difference.
Responsibilities
- Support residents to maintain dignity, independence, and personal choice
- Engage residents in activities both inside the home and in the community
- Assist with personal care, household tasks, meal preparation, and daily routines
- Provide safe and appropriate support for individuals with complex needs
- Use Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to promote well-being and reduce distress
- Build strong, trusting relationships through active listening and meaningful engagement
- Follow care plans and contribute to maintaining a safe, supportive environment
- Encourage social interaction, community participation, and healthy lifestyle choices
