We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring Domestic Cleaner to join our team at our care home in Jarrow.
Key responsibilities include:
- General cleanliness and hygiene of the home, maintaining a high standard of appearance to contribute to the quality of care and lifestyle of each service user, ensuring privacy, dignity and respect of service users’ possessions.
- Carrying out the Home's policies, practices and procedures and following GSCC Codes of Conduct and Practice for Social Care Workers.
- Cleaning all rooms including furniture, fittings, windows, fabric, carpets and equipment.
- Cleaning sanitary and other equipment, with particular attention to guidelines for the control of germs and infection.
- Dealing with waste bags and ensuring their correct disposal.
- Following safe working procedures and safety regulations, removing items found faulty and reporting them to the Manager.
- Ensuring the correct and economical use of materials and equipment, and that wastage is kept to a minimum.
- Assisting in carrying out risk assessments and ensuring all proposals are carried out.
- Taking responsibility for Health & Safety issues, reporting any dangers to self and others.
- Ensuring correct storage and use of cleaning materials, following COSHH guidelines.
- Reading all relevant communications, signing, and carrying out instructions.
- Adhering to all aspects relating to confidentiality, not discussing the Company, service users or other information with unauthorized persons.
- Participating in staff and service user meetings and in training activities as directed, on or off site.
- Reporting any situations or concerns immediately to management.
- Being flexible, working to the benefit of service users, and assisting with any other duties if required.
- The post holder may be required to undertake additional tasks that may reasonably be expected within the scope of their role.
