About the role:
Careline Lifestyles is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team in Hartlepool. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for cooking and a commitment to providing high-quality meals to our residents. You will play an essential role in ensuring the smooth, efficient and safe operation of our kitchen, contributing to a warm and homely dining experience for those in our care. To support the organisation and control of the efficient, cost-effective production of quality food within the allocated budget, while upholding the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation, cooking and serving of meals to a high standard.
- Support with menu planning and ensuring meals meet dietary needs and preferences.
- Take part in staff and client meetings as required.
- Maintain and continuously improve professional knowledge, skills and competence.
- Attend mandatory training sessions, both on and off site.
- Wash up after meals and ensure all crockery, utensils and equipment are thoroughly cleaned, stored correctly and well maintained.
- Carry out general cleaning duties within the kitchen and, where required, dining areas to maintain an excellent standard of hygiene.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory Health & Safety standards in the kitchen and dining environment.
- Report any infectious illnesses or accidents involving clients, colleagues, yourself or others to the Home Manager or Person in Charge immediately.
- Understand and implement the Home's Health & Safety policies, including Emergency and Fire procedures.
- Report any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, broken equipment or potential hazards to the Home Manager or Handyperson promptly.
- Promote and maintain safe working practices throughout the Home.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all information encountered in the course of your duties.
- Notify the Home Manager or Person in Charge as soon as possible if you are unable to attend work, and report promptly on your return from any absence.
- Support the security of the Home at all times.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures within the required timescales.
- Carry out any additional reasonable tasks assigned by management.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications:
- Level 2 Food Safety / Hygiene Certificate
